Citizens National Bank
This Longview landmark first opened for business in 1956 as First National Bank, having been built to replace the original bank building of 1912. Known today as the Kilpatrick Building, this structure is the tallest skycraper in downtown Longview and has a rich history that is closely linked to the early days of the town, including occupying the site of the infamous Dalton Gang robbery of 1894.
Citizens National Bank commissioned RLM General Contractors to renovate and restore approximately 20,000 sq ft of the basement, first floors and second floors. Challenges included matching woodwork to the original wood paneling, restoring the original terrazo flooring to its former luster, adding energy efficient LED lighting throughout, installing a commercial-style kitchen for catering, adding state-of-the-art security and IT systems, and integrating modern plumbing with the existing cast iron galvanized lines. Although numerous updates were made, Citizens National Bank chose to retain the nostalgic feel of yesteryear's banks. Marble walls and columns, vintage mosaic tiles and original teller cages are a nod to a banking era gone by.
